Hunting for Marco Polo sheep
The hunt in Tajikistan is
conducted in the Pamir south of the village of Murgab, along the borders of
China, and Afghanistan along the area known as the Wakhan Corridor of
Afghanistan. This location has long been recognized as the habitat of the
largest Marco polo Argali in the world. Our 3 camps lie close to each other in
the heart of the Pamir mountains base camp are at approximately 14,000 foot
elevation and hunting can go up from there. Trophies generally measure between
52 and 58 inches. Occasionally rams of up to 68 inches have been taken.
Getting There:
There is one basic access city served by western airlines- Dushanbe (Capital of
Tajikistan).
The preferable choice is traveling to Dushanbe, from Munich (Germany) or
Istanbul (Turkey).
There is no problem with transit of hunting rifles via Turkey or Germany. We
meet you at the any airport of your arrival and assist through the customs.
Season:
The fall season begins in September and extends into mid-December. Best time for
hunting start from mid- October and lasts through December. The rut time begins
in the middle of November and last through December.
Climate:Usually
weather is favorable and more predictable in hunting areas during hunting
season. During day light the temperature approximately from 30 Fahrenheit / 0
Celsius up to 50 F / 10 C and during nighttime from 14 F / -10 C up to 5 F / -20
C. December is coldest month with more snow and shorter days.
Camp & Accommodations:
Our three hunting camps with a modern structure and equip with hitting system
and power generator. They are warm, clean and comfortable with separate areas
for dining bathing and sleeping. Normally we accommodate two to four hunters per
each camp. Each hunter has his own jeep, guides, translator, and driver.
Normally each hunter hunts in different areas.
Hunting Methods:
In the morning you load onto your jeep. During the day you may travel the upper
edges of the mountains, glassing the hillsides and feeding areas. Numerous sheep
will normally sight each day. For lunch in the field we offer you hot drinks,
sandwiches, salami, dry fruit and nuts. Once the trophy is located you complete
your stalk on foot. You will hunt at around 12000 feet\ 14000 feet. It is a
mountain hunt in every sense. Physical condition is a factor on the stalking
portion of the hunt. A long range shooting, up to 400-500 yards/m is normal for
Marco Polo Argali hunt.
The price includes:

accommodation and food in the camp during the whole tour; Service of

The price does
not include:
Airline ticket to/from Dushanbe, or Khorog, or car trip. Alcohol, items of a personal nature,
