Big Bear
Kodiak Brown Bear Hunts

This is a ten - day hunt, usually taking place between April 20th and the 10th of May, and starting October 25th. There is a $12950 fee for this hunt.

The rules on this hunt are a bit different than other sectors of Alaska. The hunt is a draw permit hunt with about a fifty percent chance of actually drawing a brown bear permit. You are allowed to put in for both the spring and fall hunts at the same time, but the entrant must act by December 5th for the hunt the following spring, and by May 30th for the hunt the following fall. No deposit is required of entrants until the drawing.

Transportation to the lodge from the town of Kodiak is by float plane. The hunt itself consists of moving by boat to very remote drainages and back-packing to areas from which you will be able to glass this awe-inspiring area for bear. This is a fun, vigorous and exciting hunt where you should expect to see three or four bears daily.

Because the country is rugged wilderness and the game we seek is the master of this realm, success depends to some extent upon good physical condition.
