Our series of
hunting concessions allow us to offer a unique range of hunts with trophies that include
Buffalo, Banteng, Sambar Deer, Wild Boar and Wild Goat. We also offer spectacular fishing
opportunities at Cobourg Peninsula and Mount Borradaile.

Areas
hunted are remote, extensive, and at times hunter and guide can be the sole occupants of a
1000 square kilometre wilderness area. Access to the hunt concessions is by light aircraft
from Darwin and thereafter by four wheel drive vehicles, specially modified and adapted to
the rugged conditions. Radio-telephone communication is an important safety feature of all
expeditions.
Comfortable and practical, permanent base camps are strategically located in all the
hunting areas at North-west Arnhemland, South-central Arnhemland and at the top of Gurig
National Park on Cobourg Peninsula. Each is well appointed and offers twin-share, tented
accommodation, toilet blocks and shower units. Meals are hearty and nourishing, and
evening meals include a limited range of wines and beers. Power is provided on-site by 240
volt generators.
Special dietary needs can be catered for provided notice is given.
Seasonal factors can affect hunt conditions, in particular access to some of the preferred
Buffalo country. The hunt concessions are all located between 11 and 13 degrees south of
the equator and a distinctive monsoonal season delivers frequent and intense tropical
downpours between December and April, making vehicle access treacherous. Buffalo are best
hunted between May and November, while Sambar Deer, Banteng and Wild Boar make suitable
trophy hunting throughout the year. Davidson's Safaris hunt prices include cleaning,
salting and packing of trophies, and organising the necessary export permits for shipping
purposes. |
